before I start, didn't this 3D gag already end? I mean seriously, who takes this shit seriously other than kids and people from mars? This 3D gag won't last long guys... Avatar did it in a sort of acceptable manner but this goddamn 3D gag is getting on my nerves in some movies like Aliens vs. pre...monsters... or was it monsters vs. Whatever... well in that movie, whose name I can't seem to remember, there were 3D gags EVERYWHERE. In the first couple of scenes, you see a paddle ball uhh ball fly straight into your face which is just one of the annoying 3D gags you will see in the movie. While were still talking about kids movies, did you notice that most of the jokes are jokes from the time of the creators of the movies? Back then, I never got to fully understand most of the jokes on kids movies I saw.. its complete bullshit. Aren't these films supposed to appeal to the younger audience? how can they do that if the kids DON'T GET THE JOKES.... back to the 3D crap, remember spy kids 3? that movie directed by that crap director, whose writers are 12 year old kids? well I remember spy kids 3 as... "god dammit! where are the goddamn 3D glasses on this DVD?". well the movie is filled with 3D gags like boxing gloves or lazers... etc... at least the movie had some jokes I could relate to eventhough the story and plot was stupid.
Bottom line here children is: Gags are like fads, if you mix em up, you get FAGS

The trailer:
The trailer was... unappealing. The film looked like another dreamworks CGI film, what more can I say? I was surprised to se Jay baruchel as the main character. I was like "hey! its the dude from tropic thunder, fan boys, and knocked up". The dude's voice acting was... okay along with the rest of the cast in the trailer. The dragon looked like a black stitch (lilo and stitch) with wings. The trailer really was another ordinary dreamworks film.
The MOVIE:
PLOT:
if I could describe the plot in one word, it would be "so?". The film was (as I've said before) another kid's film filled with themes of friendship, growing up, and all the other crap you can see on "home alone" or "shrek". I wouldn't want to spoil the story but I didn't expect the ending where the dude looses his (spoiler) during the giant (spoiler) battle. That was something new to me in kids movies. The plot itself is: guy is a looser but wants to help- guy does something he can brag about-guy doesnt do it cuz he IS THE MAIN PROTAGONIST-guy gains dragon friend-guy becomes popular, gets the girl, gets exposed, big epic battle and guy looses (you'll have to see the movie). The story arc/flow isn't new, but as many people say, its the execution that matters. The execution of this age old story arc was actually fun. The comic relief was annoying at most times but it was undeniably fun to watch
Characters:
I always have this set of characters I always see in movies:
the buff one
the hero
the girl (usually the only one)
the comic relief
the smart one
and the minority
It seems like there must always be at least 1 character that appeals to at least 1 viewer in the audience. My favorite character has to be the kid on the moon on the "D" in the word DREAMWORKS. These "archetypes" as some people call them are essental to most stories. They are un-original but why fix something that is slightly damaged?

Voice acting:
Jay baruchel=awesome. The main character is an awkward teenager and, if you've seen Tropic thunder, jay fits this role almost perfectly.

Final verdict:
7/10 for it's lack of good use for the 3D, its good use of jay baruchel for the main character, its fun presentation of an age old story, and the fact that the kid in the "D" was in it.

watch it for the lulz, dont if you expect something deep... unless you are an R-Tard
